Elena Adamou’s practice revolves around the intimate dimension of time and the resilience of vulnerable beings.

Elena Adamou lives and works in Nicosia. She studied Painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where she also completed an MA in Costume Design. She lived and worked in Milan as an artist, performer, and textile laboratory technician until 2021, when she returned to Cyprus.

Her practice revolves around the intimate dimension of time and the resilience of vulnerable beings. Through her work, she explores the relationship between time and the body, the self and personal objects, and the sense of belonging within both familiar environments and non-places. For Adamou, origin is not only tied to birthplace but also becomes a point of departure for reflecting on broader social contexts.

She is particularly interested in how we define and inhabit ‘safe spaces’. Environments that allow for free and authentic expression. Her work spans embroidery, textile manipulations, installation, and video.
