Fikos

Me and My Monkey

Fikos, a pioneer Greek visual artist renowned for his unique style of painting, which has established as “Contemporary Byzantine Painting”, speaks about the evolution of consciousness, from our prehistoric roots to the creation of modern civilization, inviting us to delve into the complexity of human existence.

Through a series of impressive artworks, he presents a zoological garden of hybrid creatures originating from imagination, nature, and the animal kingdom. Each creature symbolizes different aspects of our innate desires and instincts.

Fikos, born in Athens, Greece in 1987, embarked on his artistic journey at the turn of the millennium. Simultaneously delving into graffiti artistry and studying Byzantine painting under the esteemed guidance of George Kordis, a luminary in the revival of iconography, Fikos honed his craft through their collaboration, extending their artistic reach to create murals in Orthodox churches worldwide. Transitioning seamlessly from street art to monumental murals, Fikos’s prowess culminated in his renowned masterpiece “Earth and Sky” in Kiev, Ukraine—a towering 46-meter testament to Byzantine art’s modern resurgence, setting records as the world’s largest Byzantine mural and the tallest Greek artwork since antiquity.
